National Republicans just lost out on another potential Republican recruiting prospect in Michigan 8th congressional district as Tim Kelly announced he’s not running for Congress. It’s not a surprise why Tim Kelly wasn’t up for a rematch – he knows it would be destined to end like his most recent loss to Congressman Dan Kildee.
Kelly isn’t the only Republican candidate to run away from MI-08. Republicans have struggled to recruit a strong candidate in mid-Michigan as Bill Schuette, who was considered a “big name to watch,” bowed out of running and Congressman John Moolenaar decided to move out of the district to run elsewhere.
DCCC Spokesperson Elena Kuhn
“In a potential field full of perennial Republican candidates, it’s clear the one race Tim Kelly and Bill Schuette don’t want is a matchup against Congressman Dan Kildee, who’s a tireless advocate for mid-Michigan.”
