As the nation celebrates 49 years since Roe v. Wade gave women the constitutional right to an abortion, extremist Republicans like Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks are still trying to take our nation backwards and control women’s decisions.
From voting against legislation to protect Iowans from attacks on their abortion rights, to joining extreme anti-choice Republicans on an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, Hinson and Miller-Meeks have placed themselves on the wrong side of history.
A strong majority of Americans support Roe, yet Hinson and Miller-Meeks have refused to stand up to the nearly 600 dangerous Republican efforts introduced this past year to control women’s bodies and take away their freedoms.
The truth is, if Hinson and Miller-Meeks had their way, 36 million women across the country could have their constitutionally secured rights stripped away from them.
DCCC Spokesperson Elena Kuhn
“Make no mistake — Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks are a threat to women’s health care in Iowa and across the country. Hinson and Miller-Meeks wouldn’t hesitate to roll back the freedoms women have had for the last 49 years and ban their constitutional right to abortion nationwide.”
