| Last week, Mike Bouchard Junior was booed by a crowd of grassroots Macomb County Republicans. Now, his party bosses are trying to force Nepo Baby Bouchard down voters’ throats when it’s clear even his own party isn’t interested in what he’s selling.
Trump’s endorsement of Bouchard Jr. is a reminder that Junior represents the status quo hurting Michiganders:
DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Mike Bouchard Junior’s flailing campaign puppeteered by his father is going so badly he’s being bailed out by his Washington bosses. Michiganders know Bouchard Junior is just a continuation of the failed status quo as he’d be a rubber stamp for higher costs, cuts to health care, and reckless trade policy hurting Michigan.”

- Detroit News: GOP’s Bouchard leans on dad’s donors in key Macomb Co. U.S. House race
- Robert Lulgjuraj: “Bouchard’s dad has been running his campaign for two years before he even came back (from military service overseas). […] These political families and career politicians, I feel like they’ve let us down. And the problem with them is they make politics their family business, and they keep passing the crown or baton down to their children. That’s wrong.”
- Republican strategist Jason Cabel Roe: “Probably more than any of the other patriarchs of political nepo babies, Mike really organized the entire thing. He went to Washington, met with the NRCC (Republicans’ national U.S. House campaign arm) and met with the White House while his son was overseas serving.”
- Roe, again: “… [Bouchard Junior’s] got no connection to the actual district he’s running in, and I think that’s ultimately going to cost him the nomination.”
- Detroit News: “Lulgjuraj called out Bouchard for his family’s political connections and cast himself — as he often does on the campaign trail — as the more ‘grassroots” option.’
- Detroit News: “’If you want the son of a career 40-year politician who never endorsed Trump but endorsed Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush, your candidate’s there … Lulgjuraj said of Bouchard, referencing his father, longtime Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard…”
- Detroit News: “Michael Bouchard, the congressional candidate, took issue with those comments and fired back with allegations that Lulgjuraj lied about his residence on official campaign filings and committed tax fraud by accepting a property tax discount on a home he wasn’t living in… The crowd booed Bouchard’s comments.”
- Lulgjuraj: “Just because your father’s a politician or your grandfather’s a politician doesn’t mean that we’re gonna take the crown off someone else’s head and bless it to another candidate.”
- Lulgjuraj: “And most of my opponents [Bouchard Jr.] were born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Their fathers are running their campaign, their father’s rich donors are giving them money.”
