NEW: Ad Exposes Unearthed Video That Reveals John Braun Wants To Overturn State Law Protecting Abortion Rights

John Braun said it himself: he wants to overturn abortion rights in Washington State.

In a new ad released today by the Marie for Congress campaign, Braun can be heard clearly stating, “Candidly, we are unlikely to change the law in Washington in the near future, but we should be focused… so that someday we get there.” The ad will run on broadcast, cable, streaming services, and digital platforms as part of a six figure ad buy.

The new ad comes roughly a week after Attorney General Todd Blanche was caught on leaked audio stating that the Trump Administration is actively trying to dismantle abortion rights in states that protect them, including Washington.

Braun has a clear track record of opposing abortion rights in the state Senate. Braun voted against bills to protect emergency access to abortion care, require state insurance to cover abortion and contraception, and protect doctors and other health care providers from out-of-state criminal investigation or prosecution.

Braun was also a vocal opponent of enshrining abortion rights into Washington’s state constitution. Braun argued that Washington’s 1970 referendum already protected abortion rights – a clearly disingenuous reason given Braun’s now-public desire to overturn the law.

After spending more than a decade in Olympia trying to stop women from making their own health care decisions, Braun got caught on tape saying he wants to overturn abortion rights in Washington. Braun is way too extreme for Washington’s Third District, which is one of many reasons voters will enthusiastically send Marie Gluesenkamp Perez back to Congress in November.”
