In New Ad, Poliquin Goes on Defense over Tax Controversies

Poliquin feeling the heat for record of improperly exploiting tax loopholes, paying his taxes late 41 times

It’s clear that Congressman Bruce Poliquin is feeling the heat after news broke earlier this year that he paid his property taxes late 41 times.

In his new ad, Poliquin goes on the defense over his past tax controversies – but notably does not rebut the facts.

The Associated Press reported earlier this year that Poliquin “was assessed interest 31 times for tardy payments in the last 10 years for properties he owned outright, owned with his parents or was developing through his real estate company.” The analysis also highlighted that Poliquin had “about 10 more late payments” before 1993.

Poliquin previously made news when he was caught abusing a loophole to pay less than 30 dollars in property taxes on an oceanfront property in southern Maine worth millions.

“It’s clear that Congressman Bruce Poliquin is feeling the heat from Maine voters after news broke earlier this year that he paid his property taxes late 41 times,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “Poliquin won’t be able to paper over his record of rigging the system to his benefit, no matter how many Mainers get hurt.”
