New Analysis Confirms GOP Tax Plan Would Raise Taxes on 76 Million Families, Defund Police

This month, Reps. Kim and Steel signaled their approval of tax-raising plan at OC families’ expense

Yesterday, new analysis from the thinktank Third Way and the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center confirmed the GOP’s stated agenda for after the midterms would raise taxes on 76 million more Americans than President Biden’s proposal. The majority of those families who would see tax hikes under the GOP plan earn less than $54,000 annually.

What’s more, while no seniors who rely on Social Security for all or most of their income would see their taxes go up under Democrats’ leadership, yesterday’s analysis reveals 24 million seniors would face tax hikes under the GOP plan. The GOP’s disastrous tax plan would also lead to the firing of some 49,759 federal law enforcement personnel.

That did not stop Representatives Young Kim and Michelle Steel from proudly campaigning alongside the architect of this plan, Sen. Rick Scott, earlier this month as he touted Republicans’ 2023 agenda to raise taxes on working families and seniors, all while defunding the police.

DCCC Spokesperson Maddy Mundy
“Reps. Young Kim and Michelle Steel must explain to Orange County voters why they support a plan that would raise taxes on millions of middle-class families and seniors and defund the police.”
