According to new analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, approximately 4,000 more people in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District are at risk of losing their health insurance due to Don Bacon and House Republicans’ Tax Scam bill.
These updated numbers mean that nearly 25,000 of Bacon’s own constituents are set to lose their Medicaid coverage thanks to his deciding vote to fund tax breaks for the wealthiest people in the country.
Don Bacon repeatedly claimed that he would not support major cuts to Medicaid only to then turn around and cast the deciding vote to gut Medicaid funding by nearly $800 billion.
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“Don Bacon’s broken promises always come at a cost for Nebraska’s working families. After setting an already ridiculous red-line on $500 billion in Medicaid cuts, Bacon turned around and voted for nearly double that amount, ripping Medicaid away from his own constituents. Bacon’s assurances aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on.”
