Newly released Navigator polling shows the American public was paying attention during October’s messy Speaker fight as chaos and infighting consumed House Republicans, and the verdict is in:
Nearly 7 out of 10 voters in battleground districts said Republicans in Congress have prioritized the wrong things.
Republican incumbents in Biden-won districts have incredibly low favorability right now (34%), dropping 4% since the summer.
In districts won by Trump, Republican incumbents saw their favorability drop by 6%. At the same time, Democratic incumbents improved their favorability by 5% in October.
Biden-district Republicans are 16 points underwater when it comes to their handling of the economy. Their job approval ratings are 14 points underwater.
Lastly, as House Republicans renew their efforts to cut Social Security and Medicare, 75% of voters in battleground districts say they are “much more likely” to support a candidate who defends these programs.
With more chaos on the horizon as House Republicans continue to snipe and attack each other while failing to address the kitchen table issues voters care about, these numbers spell doom for the MAGA Republican House majority.
DCCC Spokesperson VietShelton:
“It turns out ignoring the needs of working families, spreading conspiracy theories, and waging war on Social Security and Medicare is wildly unpopular. The MAGA majority hasn’t done a single thing to grow the middle class – and voters have noticed – setting the stage for Democrats to retake the House majority next November.”
