NEW: “Ciscomani showed no backbone in Jordan votes, and dug himself a big hole”

In case you missed it: Fake moderate Juan Ciscomani is “probably out looking for his spine” after voting three separate times to make doomed candidate Jim Jordan the next Speaker of the House.

According to a local editorial in the Green Valley News“The vote for Jordan was bad for a lot of reasons, but mostly because he’s morally bankrupt.”

Jim Jordan is a far-right extremist who continues to propagate conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and authored the text of a nationwide abortion ban with no exceptions.

“Jim Jordan is out of the picture, but Juan Ciscomani is left to explain himself,” the editorial concludes.

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Juan Ciscomani has consistently refused to act in a bipartisan manner to bring the House of Representatives back to work. Instead, Ciscomani has embraced extremists like Jim Jordan and turned his back on the Arizonans he represents.”

Green Valley News: From the Editor: Ciscomani showed no backbone in Jordan votes, and dug himself a big hole

  • If you can’t get ahold of U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani the next few days it’s because he’s probably out looking for his spine.

  • He lost it this week when he voted to make Rep. Jim Jordan the House Speaker. Three times. The vote for Jordan was bad for a lot of reasons, but mostly because he’s morally bankrupt.

  • Bold Republicans who stood up to Jordan’s behind-the-scenes bullying and threats before Friday’s third vote made sure he won’t wield the Speaker’s gavel. Unfortunately, Ciscomani wasn’t among them.

  • Ciscomani, who’d be the first to tell you to do the right thing even when it means standing alone, couldn’t do it himself. Instead, he voted for Jim Jordan, a man who finds joy in chaos.

  • Jordan’s baggage would fill a newspaper, so we’ll just focus on his role in the Jan. 6 assault on democracy.

    • Four days before rioters attacked police and entered the U.S. Capitol, Jordan led a conference call with then-President Donald Trump and other members of Congress to figure out how they could delay the certification of the Electoral College votes later that week. In that call, according to the Select Committee investigation of the assault, they discussed encouraging Trump supporters on social media to “march to the Capitol.”

    • The day before the rioting, Jordan contacted Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to say Vice President Mike Pence should “call out all the electoral votes that he believes are unconstitutional as no electoral votes at all.”

    • Jordan voted against certifying President Biden’s win on Jan. 6, 2021.

    • On Jan. 12, less than a week after the assault on the Capitol, Jordan denied ever saying the election was stolen. His actions said otherwise; he is a liar.

  • Jim Jordan loves to spin, bully and lie. He has no integrity, making Ciscomani’s vote even more disappointing. Because Ciscomani does.

  • So what happened to Ciscomani? He told us via social media that a looming government shutdown means we need to get to work. “Congress cannot waste any more time.”

  • He promised he’d had “several conversations with Jim regarding our priorities” in District 6. “There’s too much at stake to continue to be stalled. I came to D.C. to work — not sit around.”

  • Ciscomani didn’t address Jordan’s past. It’s his own party that put us in this position by ousting Kevin McCarthy a few weeks back. Sure, electing Jim Jordan would get things moving, but in the wrong direction.

  • Jim Jordan is out of the picture, but Juan Ciscomani is left to explain himself. That won’t happen right away — his staff has formed a wall around him. But voters and political opponents will be sure questions are asked in 2024. So will we.
