New DCCC Ad “Press Conference” Further Exposes Babeu’s Direct Role in Inhumane Abuse at the DeSisto School

Down in the poll numbers, Babeu continues to lie about the rampant abuse that happened on his watch

This latest DCCC ad comes directly on the heels of a bombshell story revealing that Sheriff Paul Babeu not only knew about and touted the abuse but also approved the various disturbing punishments that students were subjected to. Similar to the previous two ads exposing Babeu’s disturbing record, “Press Conference” relies on extensive press coverage and the words on Babeu himself.

In his role as headmaster, Paul Babeu oversaw the widespread and inhumane abuse of special needs students,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “To make matters worse, he continues to brazenly lie about his role despite being caught on video touting the disturbing treatment and a former student verifying that he not only knew but approved of the abuse. His behavior and his lies are both disqualifying — there’s just no way Arizonans can trust someone like this.”

 Transcript of “Press Conference”:

Anchor: Sheriff Paul Babeu was headmaster at DeSisto school in Massachusetts.

Anchor: A boarding school rife with abuse.

Former DeSisto Student: A lot of things went down that probably shouldn’t have.

Babeu: This isn’t about abuse or neglect, because none of this was found.

Anchor: Except these … records show the state found it.  Students and parents testified about it. … And a judge ordered it to stop.

Former DeSisto Student:  The cornering, the sheeting. … I didn’t know how to live and function as a normal human being.

Babeu: I’ll end it with that. Thank you so much.
