| Today, the DCCC is launching a new billboard campaign holding vulnerable Republican David Valadao accountable for soaring health insurance costs being unleashed on hardworking Californians ahead of the holiday season.
The mobile billboard will be circling Bakersfield on Wednesday, December 17th reminding voters that for months, Valadao has desperately worked to cover his real record of cutting health care and driving up costs for working families – joining meaningless letters claiming he wants to do something to extend Affordable Care Act credits. But it’s too little too late.
Polling consistently shows Americans want the tax credits extended and that Republicans will be blamed if they expire.
REMINDER: Valadao has voted at least 30 times to cripple, defund, or change the Affordable Care Act. In 2018, it cost him his seat. Valadao also cast a deciding vote for the largest cut to Medicaid in American history, impacting over 68,000 people in the Central Valley all to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires.
Hospitals, nursing homes, and community-based health clinics are at-risk of shutting down thanks to these cuts, felt hardest by rural hospitals in and around CA-22 that serve the highest share of Medicaid recipients in the country.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“David Valadao is going full ‘Grinch’ with cruel cuts to health care and his refusal to deliver lower costs for hardworking Californians. The Republican health care crisis will be the defining issue in CA-22 ahead of the 2026 midterms, and the DCCC will hold Valadao accountable for helping create it.” |
