| Today, the DCCC is launching a new billboard campaign holding vulnerable Republican Mike Lawler accountable for soaring health insurance costs being unleashed on hardworking New Yorkers ahead of the holiday season.
For months, Lawler has made empty promises to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits, but has refused to sign on to a common-sense proposal to extend the credits for three years. Polling consistently shows Americans want the tax credits extended and that Republicans will be blamed if they expire.
REMINDER: Lawler has repeatedly called the ACA “a disaster” and cast a key vote for Trump’s Big, Ugly Law, which included the largest cut to Medicaid in American history to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires.
Hospitals, nursing homes, and community-based health clinics are at-risk of shutting down thanks to these cuts, with some Hudson Valley facilities already laying off workers and cutting critical programs.
