| Today, the DCCC is launching a new digital ad as part of a six-figure ad campaign targeting rural voters in NC-11 who have been left behind by career politicians like Jennifer Balkcom.
“Way of Life” highlights Jennifer Balkcom’s record of failing to deliver the relief needed to rebuild Western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. Balkcom has repeatedly voted against Medicaid expansion, and is backing the healthcare cuts that are closing rural hospitals and driving up insurance rates while taking special interest cash.

The ad is part of the DCCC’s Our Power, Our Country Program, an historic eight-figure investment to engage voters of color and rural communities. The investment also marks the first time the DCCC has had a program dedicated to specifically engaging rural voters. The ad will run on YouTube and a variety of other streaming platforms.
DCCC Rural Engagement Manager Jacob Burg:
“Western North Carolina was left hung out to dry as Jennifer Balkcom failed to deliver the needed recovery funds for folks on the ground after Hurricane Helene. After being handpicked behind closed doors to run for Congress, she is now blindly backing the cuts that are really hurting rural healthcare. Western North Carolina deserves real independent leadership.”
