| Today, the DCCC is launching its first digital ad — as part of a larger six-figure campaign — targeting rural voters in OH-09 who have been left behind by career politicians like Derek Merrin.
In “Auction,” Denny, a Putnam County farmer, speaks out against Derek Merrin and other Republicans for selling out rural communities for their own benefit. Merrin voted to give billions in tax breaks to the data center developers that are taking over prime farmland and voted to greenlight the $1.3 billion FirstEnergy bailout that hiked up utility bills for Ohioans, all while raking in their campaign cash.

The ad is part of the DCCC’s Our Power, Our Country Program, a historic eight-figure investment to engage voters of color and rural communities. The investment is also the first time the DCCC has had a program dedicated to specifically engaging rural voters. The ad will run on YouTube and a variety of other streaming platforms.
DCCC Rural Engagement Manager Jacob Burg:
“Northwest Ohio deserves a leader who respects their communities and way of life. Politicians like Derek Merrin may enjoy the campaign donations from the utility and Big Tech companies, but rural folks know that our farmland and small town communities come first. On November 3rd, every vote against bought and sold politicians like Derek Merrin is a vote for our farmers and rural communities.”
