Today, the DCCC is announcing a six-figure, Latino-focused ad campaign to make the stakes of this election clear. The Spanish and English ads are running in key battleground districts and highlight Republicans’ role in restricting abortion, their plans to institute a nationwide abortion ban, and Democrats’ commitment to protecting reproductive freedoms.
For the first time ever, abortion is a top five issue among Latino voters – a product of the Republican Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and Republicans’ vow to institute a nationwide abortion ban. Seventy percent of Latino voters support a woman’s right to access safe, legal abortion regardless of their own personal stances. Our most vulnerable communities, including people of color, low-income communities, and survivors of abuse will bear the brunt of Republicans’ unjust rollback of status quo abortion protections.
Republicans’ efforts to further restrict freedoms are repelling Latino voters and it will cost them in November.
“Republicans’ anti-choice, anti-freedom agenda is not only unpopular but is downright dangerous – especially for Latinas and their families,” said DCCC Senior Advisor for Latino Engagement Mariafernanda Zacarias. “These ads remind us of the choice in this election: Democrats who will fight for our communities and freedoms, or the Republicans’ who are working to ban reproductive freedoms nationwide even in cases of rape, incest and to save the life of the mother.”
