Colonel Doug Applegate Puts Country First
Today the DCCC is on air with a new TV ad highlighting vulnerable Congressman Darrell Issa’s close connections to Donald Trump, including news last week that Trump added Issa to his National Security Advisory Council – the very same day the “Trump Tapes” were released.
Last week a DCCC poll showed Colonel Applegate taking the lead – 46 percent to 42 percent – for the first time in this competitive district. Last night, Issa himself admitted his district “will probably go for Hillary Clinton, but I think they’re making a mistake,” adding another dose of partisanship and demonstrating how out-of-step he is with the people he’s supposed to represent.
“This ad contrasts Darrell Issa’s blind partisanship with Marine Colonel Doug Applegate’s 32-year record of putting his country first,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC. “Voters deserve to know that Issa’s vocal support of Trump and now official role on his campaign means he’ll always put his party before anything else.”
