NEW DCCC TV AD in NY-24: We Can’t Count on John Katko Anymore

Second DCCC TV Ad in NY-24 Highlights How Washington Has Changed John Katko

Today, the DCCC released its second television ad holding John Katko accountable for siding with special interests and voting with Donald Trump to give massive tax breaks to corporations at the expense of Social Security and Medicare. The ad, which begins airing today comes days after Trump threatened, again, to gut Social Security if re-elected.

Chopping Block,” airing now on TV stations in Syracuse, highlights the more than $2 million in corporate special interest money that Katko collected while he’s been in Washington. Since going to Washington five years ago, Katko has repeatedly put his donors’ financial interests ahead of his constituents. His vote for the 2017 tax bill gave rich corporations billions in tax breaks, while exploding the national debt by trillions of dollars.

DCCC Spokeswoman Christine Bennett released the following statement:

“Rep. John Katko has changed while he has been in Washington. John Katko has repeatedly sided with his special interest donors, voting to give them tax handouts at the expense of Social Security and Medicare. With Donald Trump threatening, yet again, to cut these promises we have made to our seniors, it’s clear just how dangerous the Trump-Katko agenda is. Central New York voters can’t count on John Katko anymore, and they’ll send him packing once and for all come November.”

Polling reveals a tight race between Katko and Dana Balter, with a DCCC poll released in June showing Balter with a 3 point lead over the incumbent, and a poll from the House Majority Project showing Balter with a 1 point lead.

Both Inside Elections and Cook Political Report have shifted this race in Democrats favor in recent weeks. Roll Call has listed added John Katko as to its Fifth Most Vulnerable House Member List just last week.

Narrator:

Five years ago we sent John Katko to represent us in Washington.

Now, he’s siding with big corporations and Donald Trump.

Katko’s campaign took over two million dollars from special interests.

And Katko voted for billions in corporate tax breaks adding trillions to our debt.

Even worse?

Washington Republicans plan to cut your Medicare and Social Security to pay for it. Central New York can’t count on John Katko anymore.
