New reporting from Politico details how Derrick Van Orden refuses to return campaign cash from alleged domestic abuser Max Miller and even diminished the credible allegations leveled against him. Van Orden “refused to discuss the matter” and is refusing to return the cash.
Politico: “Van Orden, asked Tuesday night about the $2,500 contribution he received from Miller during about an interview about the results of his state’s primary elections, refused to discuss the matter, calling the accusations against Miller ‘allegations’ he had heard about ‘the day before yesterday.’”
Over the past several weeks, multiple Republican senators called for Max Miller’s resignation, including Senators Bernie Moreno, Jon Husted, Tim Sheehy, Shelley Moore Capito, and Roger Marshall.
DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Derrick Van Orden will do anything to hold on to power. He is diminishing credible allegations of domestic violence because he would rather keep his campaign coffers full than do the right thing.”
