NEW DIGITAL VIDEO MARKING 51 YEARS SINCE ROE: Extreme MAGA Republicans Won’t Stop Until They Ban Abortion Nationwide

To mark the 51st anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Roe v. Wade, the DCCC is launching a new digital video showcasing the extreme Republican effort to chip away at abortion care at the federal level.

The new video singles out vulnerable House Republicans who have broken campaign promises and voted in favor of federal abortion restrictions.

• Freshman Rep. Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) joined extremists on the House Appropriations Committee to restrict the sale of safe and affordable abortion medication at the federal level as part of the Ag-FDA spending bill – contradicting his campaign promise that abortion was a states’ rights issue.

• Increasingly vulnerable Rep. Young Kim (CA-40) told the Los Angeles Times in October 2022 that abortion should be left up to the states, but then signed on as a co-sponsor to H.R. 7 to upend California state law and take away private  health insurance from women.

• Last year, Rep. Brandon Williams (NY-22) told Syracuse.com “the federal government needs to stay out of this,” then joined extremists to co-sponsor H.R. 7 – fervently anti-abortion legislation that would overturn state law in New York guaranteeing access to reproductive healthcare in private plans. When asked by a local news outlet to explain his new position, Williams hid the truth and declined to comment.

The video comes as nearly every single vulnerable House Republican voted to pass two anti-abortion bills last week that – if enacted into law – would spread misinformation to vulnerable communities and university students.

REMINDER: New polling shows historic levels of support for abortion access, including 66% of voters who oppose ongoing Republican efforts to pass a national abortion ban.
