| Albany insider Peter Oberacker is in the hot seat with new allegations that he violated New York State law.
New reporting from All Otsego reveals that Oberacker allegedly abused taxpayer-funded resources in his campaign launch ad, “Soil” – repeatedly using official Senate floor footage for campaign purposes and prompting a formal ethics complaint filed with the New York State Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government.
New York Senate rules explicitly prohibit the use of official proceedings for “campaign or political purposes” or to promote or oppose the candidacy of any person for any elective office. As the complaint filer aptly notes: New York televises its Senate proceedings for the public good and to promote transparency—not to serve individual Senators’ political ambitions.
REMINDER: Peter Oberacker’s been lying to Upstate voters since the moment he launched his campaign, falsely claiming in his launch video that he was “born and raised” in Schenevus when he was actually born over 200 miles away in Merrick, Long Island.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Peter Oberacker’s very first act as a congressional candidate was to lie to voters and allegedly break the law. The last thing Upstate New Yorkers need in Congress is another shameless politician who thinks the rules don’t apply to him.” |
