Moderator Kyle Clark: “If you’re not going to answer the question, we’re going to use the time”
In tonight’s debate on 9News, Gabe Evans was asked when it’s acceptable to hit children at home or in school – and he repeatedly refused to say he opposed adults hitting children when pressed three different times.
Evans is a member of Heritage Defense, which defends parents accused of beating their children and explicitly supports “corporal punishment”. In the state legislature, Evans voted against a ban on corporal punishment in Colorado public schools. It couldn’t be more clear that Evans is a threat to the safety of Colorado kids.
DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
“Gabe Evans failed to answer the easiest question in the entire debate – when is it acceptable for adults to hit children in schools? The fact that he couldn’t oppose child abuse is immediately disqualifying and tells Coloradans everything they need to know.”
