Today, GOP Congressman Austin Scott previewed the Republican scheme to slash Medicaid to fund trillions in tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations: cutting Medicaid expansion through the Affordable Care Act.
When lawmakers return from the district work period, Tom Kean Jr. and the Energy & Commerce Committee will begin the process to mark up their $880 billion in cuts – which the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office confirms cannot be done without axing Medicaid.
Their partisan plan would kick an estimated 566,000 New Jerseyans off their health insurance, devastating children, families, people with disabilities, older Americans, nursing homes, and rural hospitals. |
