NEW: House Republicans Face “Buzzsaw of Criticism” From Constituents Over GOP Tax Scam

Vulnerable House Republicans are on the run after voting to advance massive cuts to Medicaid and food assistance, and stymying job creation across the country.

For the very few who have appeared in front of their constituents in a desperate attempt to defend their vote, they’ve been confronted with boos, frustration, and anger.

For example:

  • In Colorado, Rep. Gabe Evans – who held an event with MAGA extremist Lauren Boebert – refused to answer how many of his constituents would lose access to health care as a result of his vote as he was shouted down by boos from his constituents.
  • In Iowa, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks – flanked by election denier Jim Jordan – doubled down on her vote to slash Medicaid, saying for those who lose health care: “that’s their choice.”
  • Also in Iowa, Rep. Ashley Hinson was booed as she voiced support for her vote to gut Medicaid at a town hall.
  • In Nebraska, Rep. Mike Flood admitted he hadn’t even read the entire bill before voting – which drew rage from the crowd of Nebraskans.

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“The American people are paying attention – and calling out their Republican representatives in blue, purple, and red districts for voting to gut health care and food assistance in service of their billionaire donors. If the NRCC wants to continue advising their swing-seat Members to defend their callous vote back home, we certainly won’t stop them.”
