Juan Ciscomani – an anti-abortion extremist who represents a district President Biden won in 2020 – was named the eleventh most endangered Member of Congress and the eighth most vulnerable Republican by National Journal’s initial 2024 House Power Rankings.
During his short time in Congress, Juan Ciscomani has actively sought to chip away at women’s reproductive freedom.
-
Ciscomani voted to restrict the sale of safe and affordable abortion medication, picking a fight with so-called Republican “moderates.”
-
Ciscomani voted to restrict servicemembers and their families from receiving reproductive health care.
-
Ciscomani is a co-sponsor of H.R. 7 – an anti-abortion bill that would restrict the Department of Veterans Affairs from providing reproductive health care to Arizona’s veterans and expand restrictions to Arizonans who buy ACA private insurance that covers abortion.
“An abortion-rights initiative could find itself on the ballot next year, too, which would put even more pressure on the Republican,” the National Journal writes.
DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“From chipping away at reproductive healthcare, to gutting veterans’ benefits, it’s no surprise Juan Ciscomani is one of the most vulnerable Members of Congress. The DCCC will continue to hold Ciscomani accountable for siding with extremists over Arizona’s families.” |
