NEW: Millions of Americans ALREADY Seeing Health Insurance Costs Skyrocket

House Republicans are allowing health care costs to rise for hardworking Americans

On day 22 of the Republican shutdown, millions of hardworking Americans are beginning to see their health insurance costs soar for 2026 — and it’s all because of House Republicans.

Nationwide, the average marketplace consumer will pay $1,904 in annual premiums next year, according to data compiled by KFF.

According to KFF and the Washington Post, an 18% premium price hike, coupled with failure to extend the ACA tax credits, “have left Americans with the worst year-over-year price hikes in the 12 years since the marketplaces launched.”

How are House Republicans responding to this sticker shock? Today, House Speaker Mike Johnson once again called the Affordable Care Act, which provides affordable health care to millions of Americans, including those with pre-existing conditions, a “boondoggle.”

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“In refusing to come to the negotiating table, it’s clear that House Republicans want health care costs to rise. Because of Mike Johnson and the vulnerable House Republicans on vacation, the cost of living is already too high — and now everyday families will face even steeper costs if the ACA tax credits expire.”
