NEW: National Journal 2024 House Power Rankings Names NJ07 Top 20 Race In the Country

Kean Jr. is ranked #19 most vulnerable Congressman in the country

The National Journal’s 2024 House Power Rankings listed New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District as one of the top 20 most competitive races in the country. The House Power Rankings also comes on the heels of Cook Political Report ranking NJ-07 as a toss up race for 2024.

This is no surprise given Tom Kean Jr.’s considerable vulnerabilities:

  • Kean Jr. voted to cut funding for critical government services that millions of New Jerseyans rely on. Kean worked overtime, siding with his extreme party and voting for devastating cuts to law enforcement, education, Social Security access, and small businesses in MAGA Republicans’ failed funding plan.

  • Kean Jr. has a long anti-abortion record. In the New Jersey state legislature, Kean Jr. voted against codifying a woman’s right to choose and in Congress, he voted against consideration of the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify the reproductive freedoms in Roe v. Wade.

  • Kean Jr. has proven he is a hypocrite when it comes to his own financial interests. As a candidate, Kean Jr. made the trading of stocks by members of Congress a major issue of his campaign, but the freshman was recently caught violating the STOCK Act and now faces a possible House Ethics investigation.

DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Tom Kean Jr.’s blind loyalty to MAGA Republican leadership while he hides from his constituents has landed him on a list of the most vulnerable Members of Congress. The DCCC will continue to hold Kean Jr. accountable for his self-serving agenda and ensure New Jerseyans have real representation in the 7th congressional seat.”
