New NC-09 DCCC AD: Senator Bishop a Hero for Drug Companies and the Insurance Industry

But like fans of Spiderman in the MCU… North Carolinians are left out to dry

Today, in the Special Election for North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District, the DCCC released a new television ad that makes it clear that whenever Senator Bishop puts on the cape and mask, he’s fighting on behalf of big drug and insurance companies. Unfortunately for everyday North Carolinians that makes him a villain, not a hero, when it comes to their ability to afford the health care they need.

The ad, “Count on That” goes piece-by-piece through Senator Bishop’s record to show that it’s drug companies and the insurance industry who can count on Senator Bishop, not everyday North Carolinians who are being forced to pay more:

“Dan Bishop. A hero… for the big drug companies. Every other politician voted to help lower prescription drug prices. But not Bishop. He’s not afraid to stand with insurance companies to keep cancer treatment prices high…and deny coverage for pre-existing conditions.”

DCCC Spokesperson Cole Leiter released the following statement:

“Because drug and insurance companies can count on Senator Bishop’s support, North Carolinians’ health care costs are going up and their prescriptions aren’t getting any more affordable. North Carolinians don’t need a comic book villain like Senator Bishop. They need someone they can count on to fight for them, not don the cape and mask for drug manufacturers and insurance companies.”

Transcript:

Dan Bishop. A hero… for the big drug companies.

Every other politician voted to help lower prescription drug prices. But not Bishop.

He’s not afraid to stand with insurance companies to keep cancer treatment prices high…

…and deny coverage for pre-existing conditions.

When the drug companies need someone on their side … they count on, ugh, Dan Bishop.

Clearly, we can’t.
