As House Republicans enter August Recess with no message, new polling from POLITICO shows that Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill is deeply unpopular, and that even Trump voters agree it favors the wealthy over the working class.
Instead of boosting GOP midterm prospects, the bill has turned into a political albatross. Democrats have already won the messaging war on the legislation itself, and vulnerable House Republicans are stuck defending it in an already brutal midterm environment.
DCCC Spokesperson Liam Buckley: “Selling a billionaire giveaway as a working families tax cut is just putting lipstick on a pig. Republicans sold out the American people and they’ll pay for it in November.”
