| Hardworking Americans are begging the Republican-controlled Congress to address rising health care costs and inflation in the new year, a new AP-NORC poll finds.
The latest polling comes as Deputy Speaker Mike Johnson called it quits on extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits and failed to bring up a substantive piece of legislation that lowers the high cost of living.
In 2024, vulnerable House Republicans campaigned on lowering costs – but failed to take action during the first year of the 119th Congress. In April, after the first 100 days of the Trump administration, the DCCC made clear that we would hold vulnerable House Republicans accountable for failing to make good on their promise.
Even worse for House Republicans, additional polling released this week from PBS/NPR/Marist shows that more Americans say Democrats would do a better job handling the economy and NBC News polling showing a majority of Americans trust Democrats more than Republicans to address rising health care costs.
DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Americans were promised lower costs on day one and House Republicans broke that promise. Instead, Deputy Speaker Mike Johnson sent the House home for recess without fixing the health care crisis they created and delivering on their core promise to lower the high cost of living. The American people are ready to reject the GOP’s failed agenda and eager to power House Democrats to the majority next year.” |
