NEW POLLING: Missourians “Strongly Oppose” Republican Scheme to Rig State’s Congressional Map

Plurality of voters statewide & in key state Senate districts say they are “less likely” to vote for pro-gerrymander lawmakers

Missourians really don’t like Republicans’ plan to gerrymander their state’s congressional map ahead of the 2026 election, a new poll commissioned by the DCCC finds.

The trend holds true in three key state Senate districts currently held by vulnerable Republicans – SD-8, SD-30, and SD-34 – signaling doom for Missouri Republicans who seem all but ready to once again ignore the will of voters.

KEY FINDINGS AMONG REGISTERED MISSOURI VOTERS:

  • Missouri voters overwhelmingly want their state legislators to stop prioritizing redistricting, and instead work to lower costs and improve life for Missourians.
  • A plurality of voters statewide and in SD-8, SD-30, and SD-34 “strongly oppose” Republicans’ scheme to redraw Missouri’s congressional districts, waste taxpayer resources, and steal power from the people.
  • A strong plurality of voters indicate they will be less likely to  vote for pro-gerrymandering lawmakers, both statewide and across SD-8, SD-30, and SD-34.

See for yourself…

  • Nearly half, or 48 percent, of Missouri voters oppose the move, according to a new Change Research survey.
  • Meanwhile, 37 percent of the 1,242 registered voters surveyed support the move, with 19 percent undecided.
  • The poll was conducted from Aug. 29-31 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
  • The poll also asked voters whether they would vote for a ballot initiative to create an independent redistricting commission in the state, and 52 percent of voters in the state said they would, with 22 percent opposed. (Though the state Legislature is taking aim at the ballot measure process, too.)
