The latest polling on Proposition One, the ballot initiative to enshrine protections for abortion into the state constitution, reveals that in California’s most competitive congressional battlegrounds, voters are overwhelmingly motivated to protect abortion rights.
Across California, 81% of voters say abortion rights will be an important factor in the upcoming midterms. Majorities in some of California’s most hotly-contested districts, from Orange County to the Central Valley, state they will support Proposition One in the upcoming midterm.
At the same time they are voting “yes” on Prop One, Californians will have the opportunity to reject extreme Republicans who are dangerously out-of-touch with California voters.
REMINDER: Every single Republican candidate running in a California battleground district is on the wrong side of abortion rights. Just last year, Reps. Mike Garcia, David Valadao, and Michelle Steel co-sponsored a federal abortion ban without exceptions for rape or when the life of the woman is at risk.
Democrats have long known California offers some of the best pick-up opportunities in the country. The latest polling only confirms Californians living in swing districts are more motivated than ever to participate in this election and protect abortion rights.
Maddy Mundy, DCCC Spokesperson:
“When it comes to abortion rights, in every congressional battleground, vulnerable Republicans are dangerously out-of-step with California voters. This November, these extreme Republicans will learn the consequences of attacking Californians’ rights.”
