New York Times: Kiggans joins class of Republicans candidates in “embrac[ing] the fiction that the 2020 election was illegitimate”
In case you missed it, a new report is calling out Jen Kiggans and her dangerous record of refusing to admit who won the 2020 election.
The New York Times reports that Republicans including Kiggans are “trying to deflect the question of Mr. Biden’s legitimacy” and instead are “pledg[ing] to crack down on voter fraud, rebuild ‘election integrity’ and support more voting restrictions.” And Kiggans has made “no mention of Mr. Biden or whether she disputed the 2020 results.”
Kiggans’ remarkable silence comes as Steve Bannon promised that pushing the “Big Lie” that the election was stolen will be a “litmus test” for candidates in Republican primaries, and as her opponent Jarome Bell said that people involved in election fraud should be sentenced “to death.”
“Jen Kiggans’ refusal to acknowledge the results of the 2020 election shows that she’d do anything to boost her political career, even if it means undermining our Democracy,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Virginians deserve a representative who will be an independent voice in Congress, not another typical politician like Kiggans.”
