A new report is highlighting just how devastating anti-abortion activists like Amanda Adkins’ efforts to pass extreme “personhood” laws would be for Kansans and families across the country in light of Roe getting overturned.
As chair of the Kansas GOP during the Brownback-era, Adkins helped craft the party’s platform that included support for adding a “human life” amendment to the U.S. constitution, paving the way for extreme and cruel restrictions on women’s health care.
If Adkins had things her way, it could mean:
-
Ending all exceptions for abortion, including in cases of rape, incest, and to protect life of the mother;
-
Criminalizing women’s health care procedures;
-
Limiting a pregnant woman’s right to make her own health care decisions.
It’s a dangerous record Adkins will be forced to own this November as voters once again turn out to defend their reproductive freedoms.
DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw
“While the majority of Kansans support a woman’s right to choose, Amanda Adkins has led the charge to ban abortion without exceptions and even supported extreme personhood bills that could criminalize basic health care procedures. She will have her own extremism to thank when Kansans reject her at the ballot box this November.”
