A new report shows just how devastating Mike Lawler’s and House Republicans’ Tax Scam would be for New Yorkers’ wallets:
- New York households would pay $2.5 billion more in increased energy bills over the next decade, with the average New Yorker paying $300 more – a 7% hike – each year.
- New York would lose over 19,000 jobs in 2030 and more than 18,000 jobs in 2035.
- State GDP would shrink by $37 billion over the next 10 years.
Despite previous promises to protect New York’s growing clean energy economy, Lawler cast the deciding vote to gut clean energy projects in his district — which have already brought over $50 million in new investments to NY-17 alone.
REMINDER: Lawler recently begged Senate Republicans to fix the GOP Tax Scam’s clean energy cuts – after he had already voted for it.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“The Big, Ugly Bill is a daily reminder to New Yorkers that Mike Lawler and House Republicans have failed miserably at fulfilling their central campaign promise to lower costs, protect jobs, and grow the economy. Lawler’s repeated broken promises will be the reason New Yorkers fire him next year.”
