• Rob Bresnahan campaigned on a pledge to ban congressional stock trading. Instead, Bresnahan became one of the most active stock traders in all of Congress as soon as he arrived in Washington.
• Bresnahan’s stock trades have coincided with his votes in DC and market swings – fueling the perception that he may be profiting from his perch. Bresnahan dumped up to $130K worth of Medicaid-provider stocks and up to $250,000 worth of Pennsylvania hospital bonds directly before he voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history.
• When asked why he simply would not stop trading, Bresnahan whined that he didn’t want to “lose money and go broke.”
• After insisting for months that he was not involved in his portfolio, it was reported that Bresnahan admitted on audio to discussing his upcoming stock positions with his financial advisor while actively serving in Congress.
• Now, even Republicans worry Bresnahan’s corruption will cost him his seat. One Pennsylvania GOP strategist even remarked: “I don’t know what he’s doing but he’s throwing away his seat.”
