Today, Raw Story reported that former Michigan state senator and MI-07 Republican congressional candidate Tom Barrett violated federal law by neglecting to file a mandatory personal financial disclosure — nearly three months after it was due.
When confronted, Barrett’s campaign dodged questions with nonsensical “one-word answers” and gave cop-out responses that Barrett was supposedly “in the process of filing.”
Not only does this lapse in ethics mean Barrett could be subject to a Department of Justice investigation, it also highlights the shady record of a MAGA extremist who supports election denialism and is backed by corporate special interests.
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Voters rejected Tom Barrett when they learned that as a state legislator he put donors and corporate special interests ahead of mid-Michigan. Now, they are finding out that he won’t disclose his personal finances and potential conflicts of interests. New story, same shady politician.”
