NEW: Trump Lapdog Jay Feely Won’t Answer For His Anti-Abortion Record [12 News]

“The Feely campaign declined to comment for this story”

ER doctor and former state legislator Amish Shah is making headlines for his strong record protecting the right to abortion, which remains under threat despite Arizona’s constitutional protections.

A champion for women’s rights, Shah helped defeat a GOP attempt to ban the abortion pill in the Arizona State House, and fought to repeal Arizona’s abortion ban, “personally collect[ing] hundreds of signatures” to amend the state constitution to protect the right to abortion.

Meanwhile, Trump lapdog Jay Feely is an anti-abortion extremist who:

REMINDER: The Trump Administration is reportedly working to make abortion illegal nationwide, regardless of state-level protections.

DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“Arizonans don’t want an anti-abortion zealot like Jay Feely in office. While Feely is scheming to destroy reproductive rights with his buddies Donald Trump and Andy Biggs, Amish Shah has been putting in the work to ensure all Arizonans have access to the safe, affordable health care they need.”

ABC 12 News: Abortion access becoming hot topic in CD1 race

  • Two years after Arizona voters protected the right to an abortion in the state constitution, the issue is front and center again in a hotly contested congressional race here in the Valley.
  • Shah is keeping the issue alive in his first congressional district campaign. He has the backing of a national reproductive rights organization.
  • Mini Timaraju, CEO of Reproductive Freedom for All, says that despite Arizona’s protections, the Trump Administration could restrict access to abortion medication by mail.
  • “That is how the majority of abortions in this country are being done right now through medication abortion and telehealth. That’s a way to ban that access to care in a state that has enshrined [abortion rights] in its constitution.”
  • The Northeast Valley’s first congressional district is a key swing district that could decide which party controls the House of Representatives. The 2024 Reproductive Rights Initiative was approved by 65 percent of the voters in CD1.
  • Shah’s Republican opponent, former NFL kicker and broadcaster Jay Feely, has been described as pro-life. On his website… there’s no mention of abortion.
  • The Feely campaign declined to comment for this story.
