NEW: Will Monica De La Cruz Condemn Pro-Life Group’s Proposal to Force 10-Year-Old Rape Victims to Carry to Term?

Following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe, a 10-year-old rape victim was forced to travel from Ohio to Indiana to receive care since Ohio’s six-week “trigger ban” now bars women and children from accessing abortion even in the case of rape.

The general counsel for prominent anti-choice group National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), Jim Bopp, bragged to Politico about his model legislation that would allow states to force this young girl and others like her to carry their rapist’s child to term. Will Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) condemn NRLC’s proposal to force a 10-year-old rape victim to carry that pregnancy to term?

Said Bopp of the 10-year-old Ohio girl:

“She would have had the baby, and as many women who have had babies as a result of rape, we would hope that she would understand the reason and ultimately the benefit of having the child.”

Monica De La Cruz supports the Texas abortion ban that made abortion illegal at 6 weeks, long before many women know they’re pregnant, and put a $10,000 bounty on doctors or any person who helped a patient access an abortion. Today, the state of Texas sued the Biden administration for requiring abortion access in the case of medical emergencies to save the life of the woman.

“Monica De La Cruz claims to be ‘pro-life’ – can she look voters in the eye and say whether she agrees with NRLC that 10-year-old rape victims should be forced to give birth?” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson.
