New York GOP Took Money From Corrupt Trump Fundraiser Louis DeJoy

Republican Candidates Must Refuse Party’s Help Until Tainted Money Returned

Explosive new reporting from the Washington Post yesterday revealed that Donald Trump’s Postmaster General Louis DeJoy operated an illegal straw-donor scheme in which he reimbursed his employees for political donations to Republican candidates using company funds while serving as CEO of New Breed Logistics.

According to the Post:

“Louis DeJoy’s prolific campaign fundraising, which helped position him as a top Republican power broker in North Carolina and ultimately as head of the U.S. Postal Service, was bolstered for more than a decade by a practice that left many employees feeling pressured to make political contributions to GOP candidates — money DeJoy later reimbursed through bonuses, former employees say.”

But DeJoy’s generosity did not end at the North Carolina state lines or at the White House—the New York GOP is a proud beneficiary as well. Since 2016, DeJoy has gifted the NY GOP over $8,000.

Now as one of their donors is found to be illegally funneling campaign cash into our elections, the New York State Party and Republican candidates across the state have said nothing…

DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett released the following statement:

“After attempts to kneecap the Postal Service to disrupt our elections, Louis DeJoy finds himself embroiled in a scandal involving a donation scheme to elect his Republican cronies. The New York GOP should reject and disavow this obvious corruption and return his contributions. And Claudia Tenney, Nicole Malliotakis, Andrew Garbarino, Lee Zeldin, John Katko, Elise Stefanik and every other Republican candidate should refuse the state party’s help until they do.”
