NEW: Zach Nunn’s Ad Features Out-of-District Conservative Political Operative From Organization That Gave Nunn’s Campaigns $14,000

In his latest attempt to lie to Iowans about raising their costs while giving tax breaks to billionaires, Zach Nunn is running ads narrated by an “Iowa mother.”

The problem? The person Nunn portrays as simply an “Iowa mother” is a political operative employed by a conservative organization whose “affiliated political arm” gave Nunn’s campaigns $14,000.

And, she doesn’t even live in Iowa’s 3rd district.

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Zach Nunn couldn’t find anyone in Iowa’s 3rd district to defend the Big, Ugly Law, so he found a paid political operative from an organization that’s given Nunn’s campaigns thousands of dollars to lie about his bill. Iowans see through Nunn’s lies and will hold him accountable for voting to raise Iowans’ costs so he can give tax breaks to billionaires.”

  • The 30-second spot…features Sarah Curry, an Iowan whom Nunn met at the 2024 U.S. House Ways and Means Committee field hearing at the State Fairgrounds. During that hearing, GOP congressional lawmakers highlighted the benefits of the 2017 law, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, as they campaigned on extending tax cuts slated to expire at the end of 2025.
  • The Curry family lives in Glenwood, which is in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District represented by Republican U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra.
  • Curry works as research director for Iowans for Tax Relief, which has advocated for tax cuts at the state and federal levels. Its affiliated political arm, the Iowans for Tax Relief PAC that works to “elect pro-taxpayer legislators,” also has contributed $14,000 to Nunn’s state legislative campaign, state filings show.
