Newest Record Low Jobless Claims Signal American Rescue Plan Is Working

Jobless claims once again fall to lowest level since pandemic began thanks to Democrats passing the American Rescue Plan

Today, the U.S. Labor Department reported that in the last week unemployment claims fell to 360,000 – down 26,000 from the week before. This newest record low is proving once again that the American Rescue Plan is helping get thousands of everyday Americans back to work each week.

While House Republicans voted to block efforts to support small businesses, strengthen vaccine rollouts, and get cash into Americans’ pockets, Democrats fought for this relief that is now helping thousands of families file fewer and fewer unemployment claims each week and helping our economy get back on track.

“Once again, we’re seeing record low jobless claims thanks to Democrats in Congress passing the American Rescue Plan, meaningful legislation that’s helping thousands of American workers and businesses each week get back on their feet,” said DCCC Spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre. “Despite House Republicans’ best efforts to stop this relief from reaching workers and businesses, Democrats delivered.”
