NH-01: In WMUR Interview, Karoline Leavitt Supports Family Separation

Refuses to say separating toddlers from their mothers was “morally wrong”

Sunday, in an interview with WMUR, NH-01 GOP candidate Karoline Leavitt came out in support of the Trump administration’s “family separation” policy because it was a “consequence” these families should face.

Adam Sexton, WMUR: Was the Trump White House’s decision to expand the family separation policy, which did result in a much larger number of moms and kids, sometimes toddlers and babies being separated  – was that morally wrong?

Karoline Leavitt: I believe if you commit a crime in this country, and that includes coming into this country illegally, you should pay a consequence.

Matt Mowers, Leavitt’s GOP rival for the NH-01 GOP nomination, also supported the family separation policy in 2020.

James Singer, DCCC spokesperson

“Granite State families should know that Karoline Leavitt supports heartlessly ripping away toddlers from their parents.”
