NHGOP Raises Money with Author of GOP Scheme to Raise Taxes on Millions of Seniors and Low-Income Americans

Sen. Rick Scott has proudly outlined plan to raise taxes on seniors and middle-class, sunset Medicare & Social Security

Last night, the NHGOP fundraised with the architect of a GOP plan, Sen. Rick Scott, who wants to raise taxes on millions of Americans and sunset away essential programs like Social Security and Medicare.

Scott and Republicans in Washington have made clear what their plan is for America: raising taxes on millions of Social Security recipients and low-income Americans. It would also sunset programs like Social Security and Medicare, threatening benefits to Granite State seniors that depend on those programs.

A non-partisan analysis of the GOP plan to raise taxes on roughly 100 million Americans found:

  • Middle-income households would pay an average of $450 more in taxes.

  • Americans would pay more than $100 billion in federal income taxes in 2022 alone.

  • More than 80 percent of the tax increase would be paid by households making about $54,000 or less, and 97 percent would be paid by those making less than about $100,000.

Even Fox News has asked why this is a good plan for America.

James Singer, DCCC Spokesperson:

“Every Republican in New Hampshire has now effectively endorsed this draconian plan that aims to raise taxes on millions of Americans and strip away essential programs from seniors.”
