Nick Begich Votes to Keep Alaskans’ Health Care Costs High – AGAIN

Yesterday, Nick Begich voted against a bipartisan effort to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits for three years – blocking relief that would “reverse massive cost increases” for Alaskans.

After months of dodging questions and shoving families off a “health care ‘cliff’,” Begich desperately tried to blame Democrats for rising health care costs, despite his inaction causing health care premium costs to skyrocket by 346% in a state that already has some of the highest insurance costs in the nation.

REMINDER: Begich cast the deciding vote on the largest cut to Medicaid in history – ripping away health care from over 35,000 Alaskans. Instead of taking responsibility, Begich continues to “blam[e] the Affordable Care Act for rising costs.”

Begich also backed the sham GOP proposal that would have flooded the market with junk insurance plans, weakened protections for people with preexisting conditions, driven costs even higher, and left millions uninsured – so bad that even his Republican colleague dismissed it as “milquetoast garbage.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Nick Begich’s desperate finger-pointing can’t hide the truth: he voted to raise health care costs and rip coverage away from hardworking Alaskan families, all so his D.C. party bosses and billionaire donors could cash in. It’s too little too late, and Alaskans won’t forget his betrayal.”
