Days after Nick LaLota jeopardized health care coverage by voting with his extreme party bosses for House Republicans’ cruel budget blueprint, the vulnerable New York Republican had the audacity to abuse Suffolk County taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars to lie directly to their faces about how he’s “protecting” Medicaid.
A new report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office confirmed LaLota’s budget will result in severe cuts to Medicaid. Yet Nick LaLota voted for and “defends” it anyway.
LaLota’s use of taxpayer funds to lie about his vote comes as he faces heat back home for following the NRCC’s advice to “stop holding in-person town halls amid a wave of angry backlash.”
In NY-01 alone, LaLota’s dangerous vote risks health care coverage for 64,000 people and food assistance for nearly 18,000 households.
Vulnerable Long Island Republicans have a history of losing close elections over abusing taxpayer funds. Just months into the 2026 cycle, LaLota is following in their footsteps.
