Nick LaLota Votes to Restrict Abortion Rights

As women across the country endure the unimaginable, brutal consequences of Republican’s war on women, Nick LaLota and House Republicans are doubling down on their anti-choice agenda in the early days of serving in the majority.

Earlier this week, in one of his very first votes in Congress, LaLota voted against consideration of the Women’s Health Protection Act which would codify the reproductive freedoms Roe v. Wade guaranteed before the Supreme Court ripped them away.

On top of blocking abortion protections, today LaLota voted to pass anti-choice legislation that could imprison doctors and is “chock-full of misinformation and creates more barriers to care.”

REMINDER: LaLota applauded the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and has advocated for New York to limit its own abortion protections. LaLota was also “proud” to be endorsed by a group whose platform would effectively outlaw abortion, and believes allowing states “to dictate abortion policy is a step in the right direction.” But when his race got tight, LaLota was caught trying to soften his extreme stance against abortion.

DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre:
“LaLota’s despicable commitment to ripping away reproductive freedom is heard loud and clear. When it was politically useful, LaLota tried to downplay House Republicans’ commitment to banning abortion nationwide. With every extreme vote against protecting women and further restricting abortion rights, LaLota is building the case against himself for 2024.”
