Nick LaLota’s March Toward a Nationwide Abortion Ban: Attacking Service Members’ Access to Reproductive Care

This week, Nick LaLota voted for new, extreme restrictions on abortion care for 350,000 active duty women in the military.

House Republicans, including LaLota, voted overwhelmingly to insert a far-right amendment that would restrict service members’ ability to seek and access essential reproductive care, undermining bipartisan efforts to strengthen health care for our armed forces.

LaLota is paving the way for a national abortion ban with his vote on new restrictions for service members – which would overturn a rule that would allow abortion care in the case the health of the mother is at risk or in cases of rape or incest.

LaLota’s Republican Study Committee, which backs a total national abortion banalready voiced its support for these anti-abortion restrictions last week.

DCCC Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty:
“If it’s a day that ends in ‘Y’, Nick LaLota will vote for national abortion restrictions. He is more interested in attacking the reproductive freedoms of our country’s service members than ensuring our troops have the support they need, and Suffolk County voters won’t forget how wrong LaLota’s attacks are when they head to the polls in November.”
