No Clear Frontrunner in Chaotic NC-13 Republican Primary

With 18 days until the primary, the NRCC snubs a local favorite and refuses to throw their weight behind Trump pick

As early voting starts and with just 18 days to go until the North Carolina primary, Republicans are still in disarray.

Today the NRCC announced the addition of three NC-13 Republicans to their “On the Radar” list — and notably missing is DeVan Barbour, who was endorsed by a local Republican group and won a recent straw poll with 76% after a recent Republican primary forum.

The NRCC’s move to add three candidates to the list in NC-13 is also a huge snub to Trump pick Bo Hines, who still hasn’t managed to get local Republicans to rally around him despite Trump’s endorsement and Club For Growth’s promise to spend $1.3 million on his behalf in the primary.

“Republicans are in disarray in North Carolina,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “No matter which candidate makes it through the clown car primary in NC-13, they’ll be a losing choice for North Carolinians.”
