NON-PARTISAN REPORT: Rob Bresnahan Voted to Cut His Own Taxes by Thousands of Dollars – “Will Cash In”

ITEP: Bresnahan “will see direct personal benefits while most of [his] constituents benefit little or will be worse off”

Congressman Rob Bresnahan is cutting his own taxes while gutting health care for Northeastern Pennsylvanians.

That’s what striking new analysis from the non-partisan Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) reveals. The report shows that Bresnahan voted to slash his own personal taxes by as much as $23,600.

Bresnahan has already faced heavy scrutiny for timely stock trades that coincided with his vote for the Big, Ugly Bill. Now, nonpartisan analysis reveals he has voted to slash his own taxes by thousands of dollars.

While Bresnahan “will cash in” on his vote for the Big, Ugly Bill, many of his Northeastern Pennsylvania constituents “will be worse off.” That’s because Bresnahan voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history, putting hospitals and clinics at risk of closure and ripping away health care from tens of thousands of his neighbors.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Congressman Rob Bresnahan is profiting off of the pain of Northeastern Pennsylvanians. While Bresnahan day trades and cuts his own taxes by thousands of dollars, Northeastern Pennsylvanians are left worried they will lose their health care, their premiums will skyrocket, or their regional hospital will shutter because of his votes in Washington. Bresnahan puts himself first and Northeastern Pennsylvania last every single time.”
