NON-PARTISAN REPORT: Rob Wittman Voted to Cut His Own Taxes by Thousands of Dollars – “Will Cash In”

ITEP: Wittman “will see direct personal benefits while most of [his] constituents benefit little or will be worse off”

Congressman Rob Wittman is cutting his own taxes while gutting health care for Virginians.

That’s what striking new analysis from the non-partisan Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) reveals. The report shows that Wittman voted to slash his own personal taxes by as much as $59,300.

While Wittman “will cash in” on his vote for the Big, Ugly Bill, many of his Virginian constituents “will be worse off.” That’s because Wittman voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history, putting hospitals and clinics at risk of closure and ripping away health care from tens of thousands of his neighbors – all so that he could slash his own taxes by tens of thousands of dollars.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Career politician Rob Wittman has spent nearly two decades in Washington getting richer while he votes to make life harder for the Virginians he’s supposed to represent. There is nothing more out of touch than Wittman voting to slash his own taxes by tens of thousands of dollars while simultaneously gutting health care, jacking up premiums, and shuttering health clinics across the Commonwealth. It’s time for Virginia’s 1st Congressional District to have a representative who puts their community first, not their own bottom line.”
